Bacon & Cheese Turnovers

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (fan 180°C) / Gas 6.

  2. Spray a frying pan with low-calorie spray and cook bacon until just starting to brown. Remove from heat and chop into smaller pieces.

  3. Lay one sheet of filo on a clean surface and lightly spray or brush with cooking spray or oil.

  4. Place another sheet on top and repeat spraying—layer 2 sheets together.

  5. Cut layered filo sheets into 4 squares (about 12x15cm each).

  6. Place a portion of bacon and cheese on one half of each square. Season lightly.

  7. Fold over to form a triangle and press edges firmly to seal (use a fork or fingers).

  8. Brush the tops with beaten egg white for shine.

  9. Place on a lined baking tray and bake for 18–20 mins until golden and crisp.

  10. Cool slightly before serving.


💡 Tips:

  • Keep unused filo covered with a damp tea towel to prevent drying out.

  • Add finely chopped spring onions or herbs to the filling for extra flavour.

  • Perfect with a fresh salad or steamed veggies on the side.
