Bagels

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C / 180°C fan / 400°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix the self-raising flour and salt. Add the yoghurt and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Lightly flour a surface and knead the dough for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Divide into 4 equal pieces, roll each into a rope, and join the ends to form bagels.
  5. Place on the tray, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with toppings if using.
  6. Bake for 20–25 mins until golden and firm.
  7. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.

💡 Notes:

  • Gluten-free: Use gluten-free self-raising flour and add ½ tsp baking powder if your flour isn’t pre-mixed with it.

  • Freezing: Cool completely, slice, and freeze in a bag — toast from frozen.
