Ham and Spinach Swirls

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface.
  3. Spread the reduced-fat cream cheese over the pastry sheet evenly.
  4. Layer the ham slices evenly on top of the cream cheese.
  5. Distribute the spinach leaves over the ham.
  6. Season with a little salt and pepper.
  7. Tightly roll the pastry from one edge to the other, creating a log shape.
  8. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 1cm rounds.
  9. Place the rounds cut side up onto the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Brush the tops with beaten egg to ensure a golden finish.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Chef’s Tips

  • For a vegetarian version, replace ham with grilled mushrooms or roasted peppers.
  • Ensure the pastry is cold for easier handling and slicing.
  • These swirls freeze well, so make a batch ahead of time and reheat before serving.
