- Peel and chop 200g of the potatoes into chunks.
- Place in a saucepan of salted water and boil until soft.
- Meanwhile, grate the remaining 300g potatoes.
- Place the grated potatoes into a sieve, rinse thoroughly and squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a clean tea towel or cheesecloth.
- Add the grated potatoes to a frying pan over a medium heat and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently, until softened.
- Once the boiled potatoes are tender, drain and mash until smooth.
- Add both the mashed and grated potatoes to a large bowl.
- Stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, cornflour, salt and black pepper.
- Mix well until a dough-like consistency forms.
- Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape into patties approximately 1cm thick.
- Place on a plate and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm up.
- Spray lightly with low-calorie cooking spray.
- Air fry at 200°C for 20 minutes, turning halfway through cooking, until golden and crispy.
