Syn Free Crispy Golden Hash Browns

Instructions

    1. Peel and chop 200g of the potatoes into chunks.
    2. Place in a saucepan of salted water and boil until soft.
    3. Meanwhile, grate the remaining 300g potatoes.
    4. Place the grated potatoes into a sieve, rinse thoroughly and squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a clean tea towel or cheesecloth.
    5. Add the grated potatoes to a frying pan over a medium heat and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring frequently, until softened.
    6. Once the boiled potatoes are tender, drain and mash until smooth.
    7. Add both the mashed and grated potatoes to a large bowl.
    8. Stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, cornflour, salt and black pepper.
    9. Mix well until a dough-like consistency forms.
    10. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape into patties approximately 1cm thick.
    11. Place on a plate and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to firm up.
    12. Spray lightly with low-calorie cooking spray.
    13. Air fry at 200°C for 20 minutes, turning halfway through cooking, until golden and crispy.
